T-mobile lanceert HSDPA netwerk in Nederland samen met Nokia
Het magische woord van 3GSM zal realiteit worden op Cebit 2006 waar T-mobile samen met Nokia HSDPA in drie Europese landen zal introduceren.
De uitbreiding van het netwerk in Europa zal echt van start gaan op Cebit 2006 in Hanover. T-Mobile en Nokia zullen HSDPA op Cebit tonen aan bezoekers en tegelijkertijd het netwerk in Duitsland uitrollen en HSDPA inschakelen. Later in het jaar zullen Nederland en Engeland volgen. In de afgelopen tijd heeft Nokia samen met T-mobile een groot aantal testen uitgevoerd op het gebied van HSDPA in de huidige netwerken.
High-Speed Downlink Packet Access of HSDPA is een nieuw mobiel telefonie protocol dat soms de 3.5G (of "3½G") technologie wordt genoemd. Het is een evolutie van de WCDMA standaard en ontwikkeld om de aanwezige data rate te verhogen naar een factor 5 of meer. Deze nieuwe techniek is speciaal ontwikkeld voor high speed internet en streaming mobiele services. De technologie kan snelheden halen die hoger zijn dan vele mensen momenteel bereiken thuis via hun ADSL verbinding.

T-Mobile launches HSDPA networks in Germany, UK and Netherlands
T-Mobile launches commercial High Speed Downlink Data Packet Access (HSDPA) networks, in Germany, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands, thus enabling faster and better mobile services to consumers.
The launch at CeBIT 2006 in Hanover, Germany is the result of the strong collaboration between the two companies to deploy HSDPA in commercial networks. T-Mobile and Nokia provide HSDPA to CeBIT visitors in Hanover and simultaneously activate HSDPA in Germany, later in the year in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. Prior to the launch, Nokia and T-Mobile successfully trialled HSDPA in live networks.

Nokia's high-performing, cost-optimized HSDPA is a simple software upgrade to Nokia WCDMA networks, offering average data speeds of 1-2 Mbps in the first phase. Later Nokia HSDPA supports up to 14.4 Mbps according to the industry standard. Nokia is a leader in the HSDPA market, with over 20 contracts globally.
