Na UMTS is HSDPA de volgende stap; Samsung zet die stap vandaag!
HSDPA, het snellere broertje van UMTS, is nu voor het eerst in een toestel gestopt dat de markt zal bereiken, namelijk de nieuwe Samsung Z560
De nieuwe Samsung Z560 is het eerste toestel in het portofolio van Samsung op het gebied van HSDPA, de nieuwe supersnelle verbinding die streaming TV en video mogelijk maakt. De snelheid is vergelijkbaar aan uw ADSL verbinding thuis, maar dan op een mobiel toestel.
Het toestel is uitgerust met een 2.0 megapixel camera met autofocus, externe bediening voor de MP3 speler, 30 MB aan inter geheugen en de mogelijkheid tot het uitbreiden van het geheugen via een MicroSD geheugenkaart.
Tijdens 3GSM zal Samsung op de stand HSDPA laten zien aan de hand van de nieuwe Z560. NieuweMobiel is daar natuurlijk bij en zal in de komende dagen uitgebreid verslag doen van de ervaringen die HSDPA met zich meebrengen op dit nieuwe toestel.
Het toestel wordt verwacht in het tweede kwartaal van 2006, prijzen zijn nog niet bekend.

Samsung introduces the new HSDPA phone for Europe - the Z560
Barcelona, February 13th, 2006 - Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd, a leading provider of mobile phones and telecom systems, is reinforcing its technology leadership with the launch of a new HSDPA handset (model: SGH-Z560) for Europe. The launch of this handset will be combined with Europe’s first demonstration of High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) technology, reaching speeds up to 3.6 Mbps, at the 3GSM Congress in Barcelona.
The technologically advanced Z560 for Europe supports 1.8Mbps technology and comes in an ultra slim design. With a depth of mere 16mm, the handset includes advanced features such as a 2 mega-pixel camera with auto focus, external touch music keys, 30 MB of internal memory and microSD external memory slot. The Z560 is slim yet has a wide display for the convenient use of multimedia functions at a very high speed data. It uses a 2.3” QVGA 262K LCD to ensure a clear, sharp screen image. The Z560 will be available in Europe at 2nd quarter of 2006.
At the end of 2005, Samsung announced the introduction of HSDPA phone for the first time in Europe through cooperation with Vodafone, the largest mobile operator, and Qualcomm, a leading developer and innovator of advanced wireless technologies. Samsung has also demonstrated the industry’s first HSDPA handset speeds of 3.6Mbps at CES in January 2006 and will demonstrate the technology for the first time in Europe at 3GSM.
Samsung’s 3.6Mbps HSDPA handset allows users to download content much faster than on WCDMA or GSM/GPRS networks. For example, downloading a 4MB mp3 file takes less than 10 seconds at 3.6Mbps HSDPA. Demonstration of web browsing, as well as streaming and downloading of content will be held to compare the speed of 384Kbps (WCDMA speed) and 1.8 Mbps HSDPA phone.
Kitae Lee, president of Samsung Telecommunication Business added: “Samsung is proud to showcase HSDPA technology as the future of mobile broadband. By introducing our new strategic model, Z560, Samsung will drive the commercialization and deployment of HSDPA in Europe and lead the market. ”
HSDPA, a new form of mobile broadband, is capable of transmitting data at speeds up to seven times faster than that of WCDMA. Users can enjoy large-scale multimedia downloads, such as DVD-quality movies and interactive multimedia games, with high-speed wireless Internet access comparable to speeds of fixed-line ADSL services.
